Over 100 million years ago, the Coober Pedy Opal area of Australia was under an ancient sea. As the sea vanished, the shells of many of the ancient creatures were fossilized and a few of these shell became partially replaced with Precious Opal. Clam shells are the more common fossils and Belemnites, the ancient squidlike creatures are more rare. This specimen has an Opalized Belemnite and Gastropod. Multicolored fire seen in the slightly polished shells. 4 1/2" by 2 3/4" by 1 1/4" . The Belemnite is 1 1/2" and the Gastropod 7/8".
